Nineteen locations across the country are expected to experience dangerously high heat index levels on Monday, according to the latest advisory from the state weather bureau PAGASA.
In its April 20 bulletin released at 5 p.m., PAGASA forecast that the heat index in Dagupan City, Pangasinan and Aparri, Cagayan will climb to 44°C—well within the danger zone.
Several other areas are also expected to feel the brunt of the sweltering heat, with a 43°C heat index projected in:
- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
- ISU Echague, Isabela
- Cubi Point in Subic Bay, Olongapo
- San Ildefonso, Bulacan
- Sangley Point, Cavite City
Meanwhile, a heat index of 42°C is anticipated in the following locations:
- NAIA, Pasay City
- Bacnotan, La Union
- Casiguran, Aurora
- Ambulong in Tanauan, Batangas

- Pili in Camarines Sur (CBSUA campus)
- Dumangas, Iloilo

The heat index refers to what the temperature actually feels like to the human body when humidity is factored in. Readings between 42°C to 51°C fall under the “danger” category, which may lead to heat cramps, exhaustion, or even heat stroke without proper precautions.
In light of the extreme heat, the Office of Civil Defense has rolled out emergency measures in various regions. All OCD regional offices have been placed on alert and are coordinating with local authorities to monitor the situation and provide necessary support to the public.
