A 14-year-old girl was fatally stabbed by a 15-year-old male student inside a classroom at Moonwalk National High School in Parañaque City on Wednesday afternoon.
Both the victim and the suspect were Grade 8 students. Police Lieutenant Colonel Eric Angustia, Deputy Chief of Police of Parañaque City, stated that the incident occurred around 1:00 PM.
The victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile, the suspect was arrested and transferred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Bahay Pag-asa due to his minor status.
Authorities are still investigating the motive, though initial findings suggest bullying may have played a role.
The victim’s mother recalled that her daughter had confided in her the day before about the suspect’s threats.
“Mama, sasaksakin ako ng bakla. Binubully-bully po ako, Mama. Marami po kaming magkaka-classmate. Mama, papatayin niya ba ako?” she said tearfully. (Mama, the gay kid is going to stab me. He keeps bullying me, Mama. A lot of my classmates are involved. Mama, will he really kill me?)
According to police reports, the victim approached a teacher to report that a classmate had a knife and was threatening her. However, as they entered the classroom, the suspect retrieved the weapon from his bag and immediately attacked, inflicting four stab wounds to the victim’s chest.
The girl attempted to flee, but the suspect pursued her until a school guard intervened.
Meanwhile, the suspect claimed he was the one being bullied.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Eric Angustia stated, “Binu-bully daw sa school. Kasama daw po yung biktima na nambu-bully sa kaniya, Kaya niya nagawa yung ganoong krimen.” (He claimed he was being bullied at school and that the victim was among those who bullied him, which is why he committed the crime.)
The school expressed its condolences and assured the public that security measures, including stricter bag inspections, will be enforced to prevent similar incidents.
