DPWH Completes Road Projects in Pastrana and Jaro, Leyte

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed rehabilitation, and construction works on two major roads in Pastrana and Jaro, Leyte, aimed at improving mobility and supporting local economic activities.

In Pastrana, road repairs were carried out in Barangay Socsocon along the Sta. Fe-Pastrana-Dagami Road. The project included the reblocking of 113.47 square meters of Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) and the application of 712 meters of asphalt overlay. To enhance road safety, thermoplastic pavement markings were also added, improving visibility for drivers, particularly at night and during adverse weather conditions.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Anibongon, Jaro, a 1.63-kilometer road was constructed to replace the previously unpaved and deteriorated carriageway, which had posed challenges for residents trying to travel safely in and out of the area.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region 8 Director Edgar B. Tabacon highlighted that the completed projects are expected to benefit around a thousand local residents who previously faced difficulties due to the poor road conditions.

“These improvements will provide residents with safer, quicker, and more reliable access to schools, government offices, healthcare services, and commercial areas, ultimately enhancing their quality of life,” said Director Tabacon.

Both projects were executed by the DPWH Leyte 2nd District Engineering Office, with a combined total cost of ₱26.24 million, funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA). #
